Title: Less Interface, More Design: The SOLIDWORKS Streamline Challenge
Session Description: We’ll explore how simplifying the user interface in SOLIDWORKS can lead to smarter, faster, and more intentional design. Our challenge: model a simple chair using three progressively streamlined workflows that emphasize efficiency and design clarity.
Workflow 1: Out-of-the-Box!
We’ll begin with the standard SOLIDWORKS setup, leveraging essential tips and tricks that every designer should know. This baseline workflow demonstrates how powerful default tools can be when used effectively.
Workflow 2: In Command!
Next, we’ll remove the Command Manager to increase screen space and encourage the use of keyboard shortcuts. This shift not only speeds up modeling but also promotes better design intent, making future edits smoother and more predictable.
Workflow 3: No Distractions!
Finally, we’ll eliminate the Property Manager for an ultra-clean workspace. With even more room to focus on the model, we’ll rely on advanced shortcuts and refined techniques to build a chair design that’s both quick and adaptable.
7:00pm – 8:00pm
