Bending the Rules Without Tearing – Practical Sheet Metal DFM Guide

Sep 22, 10:00 – 11:00 PM (UTC)

Southern Kentucky SOLIDWORKS User Group

Ever designed a sheet metal part that looked perfect in SOLIDWORKS—but caused problems once it reached the shop floor?

Join us on September 22 for an interactive user group roundtable focused on Design for Manufacturing (DFM) for sheet metal.

We’ll discuss real-world examples of designs that may look perfectly acceptable on screen but create challenges during laser cutting, punching, bending, welding, assembly, or other manufacturing operations.

This is a discussion, not just a presentation. Members are encouraged to bring examples, questions, and lessons learned from their own experience.

We’ll talk about topics including bend limitations, tooling access, bend reliefs, hole and feature placement, material considerations, tolerances, welding and assembly, and communication between design and manufacturing.

The goal is simple: understand the manufacturing process earlier in the design process so we can make better parts—and make them right the first time.

Whether you work primarily in design, engineering, programming, fabrication, or manufacturing, bring your experience and join the conversation.

What looks good in CAD doesn't always work on the shop floor. Let's talk about why—and how we can design it better.
