MIL-STD-3100 states that CUI models must be marked accordingly. That's easy with a native drawing or solid part file. However, now that we're moving to GD&T profile control and beckoning the solid model as the reference, it's been discovered that solid model formats like para solid and step do not preserve CUI designation. Has anyone found a process that's IAW MIL-STD-3100 to get a solid model to a manufacturer? So far, CUI designation in the file name is the best thing we've come up with and there's concern that is non compliant.

In my experience that information is scrubbed from the file when converted to parasolid or step.
