We have all seen the devices. Whether it’s in a hospital, a clinic, an ambulance, or possibly where you work, and they are all truly lifesavers in every sense of the word. Now come see where they are designed and made! There will be a short tour of the Zoll facility along with an intro presentation from the Director of Engineering, <a class="" href="https://www.linkedin.com/in/thagerty/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" target="_blank">Tom Hagerty</a>, and our good friend from the early days of the SWUG community, <a class="" href="https://www.linkedin.com/in/robertwing/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" target="_blank">Bob Wing</a>, Senior CAD / PDM Administrator at ZOLL Medical Corporation.Our first presentation is from <a class="" href="https://www.linkedin.com/in/joeriel/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" target="_blank">Joe Riel</a>, Sr. Partner Business Consultant at Dassault Systemes. Joe is a long-time SOLIDWORKS user and native New Englander now living in Florida. I've known Joe just about as long as I've been using SOLIDWORKS and he is a super great guy! Chat it up with him when you arrive, he lives for these opportunities! His presentation is on Model Based Engineering or MBE. What is that you ask? Here is Joe's provided abstract:The implementation of Model Based Enterprise best practices are typically underestimated in terms of the full organizational impact it will render. MBE products are often brought on line too quickly with not enough thought given to the effect it will have on cross-functional groups. This ultimately will lead to low adoption rates as well as internal cultural instability. The aim should be to understand who benefits, how success is defined and how it’s quantified in order to win over executive sponsorship and ensure a timely, efficient and cost-effective deployment.For our second presentation, we have <a class="" href="https://www.linkedin.com/in/sal-lama-ournextmake/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" target="_blank">Sal Lama</a> and <a class="" href="https://www.linkedin.com/in/chinloolama/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" target="_blank">Chin-Loo Lama</a> in the house! Sal is Director of Product Definition at SOLIDWORKS and Chinloo is Director of UX at SOLIDWORKS. They are a powerhouse married couple, very well known among SOLIDWORKS users, and are the nicest people you will ever meet in the industry. They plan to bring a little SOLIDWORKS and a little Makers to our meeting. Merrimack Valley SWUG Meeting at ZOLL Medical in Chelmsford, MA

Come join us for a bit of summer fun at Dirigible Brewing in Littleton, MA., from 5pm till close. Meet the peeps that manage your software from Dassault, as well as other User Group Leaders from around New England, and of course, other SOLIDWORKS users like yourself.I'll kick things off with a session in progress titled, "So, You Want to Be a CAD Admin", which I plan to submit as a white paper for 3DEXPERIENCE World 2026.Then John Matrishon, Western MA SWUG Leader, and New England SWUG Regional Leader, will be in person to present, "Intro to SOLIDWORKS Surfacing" which will be a crowd pleaser for those that need a little nudge to start surface modeling on their own.In house food provided by BBQ Underground and of course Dirigible Brewing with flavorful offerings for all to enjoy. 3rd Annual BostonSWUG Festival

Our first meeting of 2025 SWUG season will be at S&amp;S Machine in Amherst, NH. 5:30 to 6:30 - Upon your arrival, you'll be ushered thru the building via a shop tour. Pizza and refreshments will be waiting for you at the end. 6:30 to 6:45 - Tim Sheehan, owner of S&amp;S Machine, will touch on the history of S&amp;S and their capabilities that you witnessed. 6:45 to 7:00 - I'll kick things off with the state of the SWUGN Community, and take quick peek of my trip to Houston to take in 3DX World 2025. 7:00 to 8:00 - Presentation by "Too Tall Toby" (unfortunately virtual only) with a variety of SOLIDWORKS Tips &amp; Tricks, SOLIDWORKS Certification style. 8:00 to 8:30 - I'll close out the meeting with some thoughts about next locations and what you would like to see at future meetings. 8:30 to 9:00 - Mix &amp; mingle, network, eat the rest of the pizza while I give some swag away!There is air conditioning in the building but as always, dress comfortably. Please save the date for our next meeting at the Lawrence Lin MakerSpace at the University of Lowell. This will be one meeting you do not want to miss!!!We'll kick off the fun with tours of the Lawrence Lin MakerSpace at 5 PM, in small manageable groups, with the goal of getting everyone back to the conference room by 6 PM. I'll do my typical meeting intro and then we will have presentations from Joshua Baronsin, President of the <a class="" href="https://umlrocketry.org/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" target="_blank">UML Rocket Club</a>, and President of the UML Race Team. They will introduce their respective programs, challenges they face, with some SOLIDWORKS functionality sprinkled into the mix.Then avid attendee of MMVSWUG, President of Forgione Engineering, Visiting Professor of Mechanical Engineering at UML, UML graduate, and...former professional skateboarder, <a class="" href="https://www.linkedin.com/in/matteoforgione/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" target="_blank">Matteo Forgione</a> will provide a thorough manufacturing presentation, all using SOLIDWORKS.The presentation as described by Matteo..."A systematic approach to choosing a mechanical fit, determining clearance or interference and the respective tolerance limits, or other methods of control to eliminate expensive tolerances, and how to use SOLIDWORKS to model, and communicate these details on a drawing in order to guarantee conformance to the performance and technical specifications required by your client.
