Your feedback will help shape our upcoming event schedule. Please share your thoughts and experiences with us!

I would really like Pro tips and tricks of managing large assemblies and reducing load and rebuild time/memory. Better or quicker ways to use reference (convert entities) geometry without maintain a link to the reference. I am currently using SolidWorks 2020 and will be going to SolidWorks 2025. What are some highlights of things to watch out for or things that could make this transition easier?

Shella, great questions and welcome to SWUGLY! We are working on putting together our next meeting for the end of this month so stay tuned! We plan to have a hybrid meeting with meeting in-person at Liberty University's School of Engineering.

Some quick tips from previous meetings, managing large assemblies is important as it can really impact your day to day. One way to optimize your work can be by using the best assembly mode (Here is a reference video going over the different levels https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WZGqxNXqA0I). Overall, my perspective is that your design intent on the part file level can also greatly impact your assembly experience. Several examples include reducing polygons by removing threads from fasteners, applying appearances to full bodies instead of surfaces, and using the freeze bar on each components to reduce rebuild time.

From SW2020 to SW2025 you have a lot of performance updates and introducing assembly performance tools like interference detection and display state tables which are a great use for reducing configurations and load time.

Thank you for your feedback and look forward to seeing you at our events!
